Foster. ford has‘broken in and has been putting through their early pacings tor clients. Six of them are owned in Australia, and they will probably be sent over to Sydney late this month c.r early ie June. The other three are owned by Telford’s own patrons. The Australian - owned half-dozen were purchases at the National Sales ■in January. They are: Night Raid — Quadrilateral filly, half-sister to Homer and Quarto, and purchased by Air G. N. Alagill, of Sydney, for 800gns; Chief Ruler—Very Hot colt, half-brother to Sir Nigel, and purchased bv Air H. T. All these youngster:, writes “Rangatira,” bear the stamp of class one would expect from the prices' they brought at auction. Particularly attractive in appearance and movement is the Very Hot colt; and the Helen colt also looks like one who might make a name for himself. From among this lot may be the Gold Rod of the coming season: Gold Rod had his early preparation in the hands of Telford, being one of the lot who were left in the Dominion for breaking in and preliminary work last year. The three youngsters whom Telford is preparing for New Zealand owners are: Night Raid —Endorse filly, halfsister to Bon Tray, and who was bought in at the sales by Air I. G.
