EXHIBITION IN SYDNEY HIGH PRAISE FOR HIS WORK SYDNEY, May 4. An exhibition of oil paintings by Mf. {Sydney Thompson, a New Zealand artist, was opened to-day by bir Hugu» Poynter at David Jones’ galleries. Nearly sixty paintings axe shown, and, accoruir.g to critics, they abound ib vivid, spontaneous, friendly, and laughing colour. The subjects are diawn from peasant Brittany and Provence. Sir 11. Poynter described the collection as delightful. lie said that Mr. Thompson had embraced the Frencli painters’ outlook without reserve.
