THE HAWEKA MEETING. i G' >< 'll PROSPECTS TO--MORROW. i Prospects are bright for the Egmont Racing Club's winter meeting which is to commence to-morrow and will be 0 concluded on Saturday. The weather J, promises to be settled and the course, n though perhaps a trifle holding, will 0 provide excellent winter going. n The totalisator will be operated o under the win-and-place system of batJ* Ling. 0 Charges for. admission at Hawera have been fixed at reasonably low figures, and this should make the meet ing even more popular with the regu lai racegoer. A convenient train ser4 vice will be available and patrons will 4 tiavel at special excursion rates. 4 The first race is to start at .11.45 4 a.m. and the races will be run oil at intervals of -15 minutes, the concluding 4 event being scheduled for 4.15 p.m. 4 The Egmont .Steeplechase held ap--4 pears likely to be one of the best in 4 years, for the class is even better than 4 has been seen out at Egmont over a long period. The Tongahoe Hurdles has also an excellent field, and the remain ing events have been well patronised, so interesting contests appear like’y.
