SYDNEY ROYAL SHOW

HEAVY RAIN EXPERIENCED. NEW ZEALAND CLYIDESDALES. SYDNEY, April 7. The Royal Show to-day was seriously marred by drenching rain. However, judging of horses, fruit, poultry, and other district exhibits went on without interruption. New Zealand Clydesdales, as in former years, figured largely and successfully in the Clydesdale stallion sections, gaining first awards in the two, three and under four-year-old classes, also second and third awards in two and three-year-old classes. The champion prize went to the New South Wales Department of Agriculture, and the reserve champion prize to A. Stokes’ Noble Douglas, imported from New Zealand. The judge in the Clydesdale classes was Mr. AV. Carruthers, Lanark, Scotland. Winooka, the former champion sprinter, won first prize for thoroughbred stallions.
