MARTON GOLF CLUB AN N UAL Al E E TIN G The annual meeting of the Marton Golf Club was held on Tuesday evening, Mr F. J. Christensen presiding over a good attendance of members. Annual Report The annual report was read as follows : “The past season has been a very successful one in every way. The membership in'crcased and it is already evident that the increase will be fully maintained this year. Players were very keen and the competitions provided very interesting play The men’s four-ball in particular was a source of great interest. “Construction work has substantially been completed and should not require any great expenditure this year. We recommend that the ladies’ tees should receive consideration. A considerable amount of draining has been done and the benefit is already apparent. All greens and fairways appear to be in excellent order and there is every reason to think that the course this year will be in better order than it has yet been. We deferred the purchase of a motor mower but think it will be necessary to acquire one before next spring. “The reserves have been reduced but the coming year should, in the absence of any unexpected expenditure, considerably improve the position. From now on we suggest that the club should proceed to build up its position against the time when we have to further increase the course and if possible the owners of the land required. “Your committee desire to thank the members of the clu'b for their wholehearted support and assistance. It would be invidious to mention anyone in particular. We wish, however, to thank Air Holdaway for his gift of a trophy for a special competition and also Drs. Dick, liarpur, and Church for providing a trophy for the Tutaenui Handicap. “The usual matches with outside clubs were played and we were success, ful in retaining the Cuthbertson Cup.
