Council meeting to-night that he had made it clear to the offi'c'als as soon as he arrived at the championship meeting that be was attending as a newspaper mfln. not a= a member of the council. He denied that he had anv bias against Boot or that he had impuTed incompetence to the referee at the <i-hainpion~liip meeting, who might not have seen an incident he saw. The letter of protest f om the Cante bur v Centre was received and no action wa« taken, the chairman. Mr H. I. Austad. saying the council had no jurisdiction over the private activities of a member.
