Severe injuries were suffered by Bill Lowrie, a 79 year-old .Maori resident, when he was struck by a waggon of R train at New Plymouth wharves this morning. His left leg was amputated below the knee and he suffered shock and severe abrasions to his head. His condition is very serious.
