FINED FOR ASSAULT

SHIP'S FIREMAN CAUSES TROUBLE. Two line.-, aggregating £B, were |)O.->cd vcstcidav by Air. J. 11. Salmoiiy B.AL., on Ernest Keywood, a fireman employed on the vessel Gabriella, which has been in port for the past lew days. Key wood was charged with assaulting Robert W. Taylor and William Ernest Hay. Taylor, in evidence, said that thu accused came up io him and told him that, he (witness) was off the vessel Kai ingo. Accused then struck witness in an eye and on the jaw. \\ itness s eye was injured. ’ To the magistrate witness explained that the Kalingo was a. boat which was supposed to employ free labour. A fine cf £5 was imposed and Keywood was ordered to pay £1 Is medical expenses. Half the fine is to go to Taylor.
