OBITUARY MR. SAMUEL MORROW The death occurred suddenly on Saturday night, following a heart attack, of Air. Samuel Morrow, aged 65 years. Although not enjoying the best of health for some time past, Mr. Morrow was feeling quite well during the morning, but on climbing the hill to his residence complained of feeling tired and became ill on reaching the house and passed quietly away at 2 a.m. The late Air. Alorrow was in business as a carpenter in Wanganui, retiring from there to live on a farm at Carnarvon for eighteen months before, coming to Hunterville about two years ago. He leaves a wife and daughter, Miss Alargaret Alorrow, to mourn their loss. The funeral took place privately at Wanganui. MAGISTRATE’S COURT 'fhe monthly sitting of the Hunterville Magistrate’s Court was held on .Monday, Air. R. M. Watson, 8.A1., presiding. For being on licensed premises after hours stvoral men were convicted aud fined amounts from £.l to £2. David Lindsay was fined £5 with ]os costs for selling liquor after hours at Ohingaiti on February 8 and 12s costs for exposing liquor for sale after hours on that date. David Gordon Lindsay, for supplying liquor after hours on the same occasion, was fined £2 and costs. Judgment for the plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil cases: A. H. Sutton, Ltd., v. George Walsron, claim £ll 18s 3d, costs £3 Is; C. B. Gregory v. C. Stevens, claim 13s JOd, costs 12s; D. Lindsay v. F. Cook, claim £6, costs £1 10s 6d. LABOUR PARTY HUNTERVILLE BRANC.H The annual general meeting of tho Hunterville branch of the Labour Party was held in the Scots’ Hall on Sunday last, Air. W. R. Oliver presiding over a large attendance. An anoloey was received from Air. Ormond Wilson. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr. R. A. Gordon; •vice-president, Air. G. Partridge; secretary, Mr. C. Stratford; executive, Messrs. R. A. Gordon, G. Partridge, C. Stratford, G. Clarke, R. E. Shaw, A. Frampton, C. Campbell and W. James; delegates to Orona L.R.C., Messrs. R. A. Gordon, C. Stratford, Vv*. James and C. Campbell. Mr. Stratfor! was appointed tn represent the branch at tho annual conference to be held at Wellington next month. Alessrs. A. F. Smith and R. E. Shaw were appointed auditors.
