RADIO LICENCES
FAILURE TO RENEW THEM. DEFENDANTS FINED. Failure to renew radio licences was responsible for imposition of a number of fines of 10s each on various defend ants in the Wanganui Magistrate « Court yesterday, which was presided over by Mr. J. H. Salmon. S.M. Senior-Sergeant L. R. <’app prosecuted and the department was represented by Inspector E. Broadley. Eric Woolmer, Alan Clapworth. Fred CuUimore, Levina Hansen. Edgar Hodson, Francis Holz, Frank O’Keefe. Wm. Robinson, and Hilda Ryan either pleaded guilty or did not appear, and were fined as stated. W. Bates entered a plea of not guilty On the ground that he had taken out the licence on the dav mentioned »n the charge. February 25: therefore ir could not be held that he was without a licence on that day. The magistrate said that that d - fence had been attempted before, but it was bad. If defendant had a set and used it. and when the inspector called, took out a licence, that did not excuse him. Defendant was fined 10 the same as the others. Court costs in each instance amounted tn 10 g .
