LAMB PRICES DECLINE MUTTON MARKET EASIER Lamb market: Prices have declined owing to slackness in demand due to Lent and a continuance of very cheap chilled beef, and large supplies of Home-killed meat. Mutton market: Lightweight wet'hers unchanged but tendency easier; other descriptions slightly weaker. Ewes: Market quiet and unchanged. Tendency of market is easier. Beef market: Frozen beef nominal owing to shortage of spot stocks. New Zealand porker pigs: Market easier owing to continued heavy supplies of Home-killed. New Zealand baconer pigs: Tendency of market is easier owing to heavier supplies in sight. The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that t'he following are the approximate average prices realised for the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during he week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores. Prices for the two previous weeks are also shown:— New Zealand Sheep.—Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wet'hers and maiden ewes: 481 b and under, 5 7-8 d (same); 481 b to 561 b, 5 3-8 d (s|d, 5 5-8 d); 471 b to 541 b, 43d (4£d, 4 7-8 d); 651 b to 721 b, 4 l-8d (4jd, 4 3-8 d). North Island: 481 b io 561 b, 5 3-8 d (s|d, 5 5-Sd); 571 b to 641 b, 4 5-8 d (43d, 4 7-8 d); 651 b to 721 b, 4 l-8d (4|d, 4 3-8 d).
