MOTOR COLLISION
HON. J. G. COATES INVOLVED to (Special to “Chronicle.”) KAIJKAPAKAPA, Alarch 15. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates narrowly escaped injury when a small sedan motor-car that he was driving collided with another car on tho Main North Road near Glorit about .13 miles north of Kaukapakapa shortly before 11 yesterday morning. Mr. Coates, accompanied by his wife, was travelling from his home at Matakohc to ('he Knemti show. The collision occurred at a dangerous bend in the road. Mr. Coates’ car 'being struck head-on bv a large sedan ear travelling north and driven by Air. N. A. Gaz.zard, traveller for Kempthorne Prosser, Ltd. Accompanying Mr. Gazzard was a sister-in-law. Both cars were extensively damaged and had to be removed by breakdown wagons. The occupants escaped with bruise! and a severe shaking. They were given first aid by local residents, Air. and Airs. IL IDye, who later took Mr. and Mrs. Coates to the show in their own car. Mr. Coates arrived at Auckland today and left for the south by the Limited express this evening.
