WEDDING

STEEL—REDIT A very pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Peter 's Church, Gonville, on Saturday, March 7, the bride being Hazel Frances, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Redit, of Wanganui, and the bridegroom, George, only son of Mr. and Mrs. JOQIII Steel, of Wanganui. The officiating clergyman was Rev. W. Soloman and Mr. Mepham presided at the organ, the service being choral. Friends of the bride had decorated the church most artistically with a profusion of flowers. Escorted by her father, the bride presented a charming picture of grace in her gown of gold tinsel lace, fashioned on slim-fitting lines. The bodice was slightly ruched and finished with gold flowers, while the sleeves were in Russian. design. The skirt flared into a train in streamline effect and was edged all round with a circular flounce on which was poised a beautiful spray of pink and gold flowers. The gown was enhanced with the gold tulle veil, handsomely embroidered and arranged to the head with a coronet of gold adorned with orange blossom. She wore gold kid sandal bar shoes and carried an exquisite trailing arm sheaf of pale pink and gold shaded waterlilies and maidenhair fern finished with streamers of parchment satin. Miss Phyllis Stringer and Miss Jean Steel (sister of the bridegroom ) were the bridesmaids. They were gowned alike in slim-fitting frocks of green matalasse fashioned with the new sling sleeves and high cowl neckline and the skirts forming a train. Their halo hats of gold lame were finished with spring green velvet flowers. They wore gold shoulder sprays and shoes ;o tone and carried trailing arm bouquets of sunset pink roses, carnation*, charm dahlias and streamers to tone. Each bridesmaid wore a gold bracelet, :ne gift of the bridegroom. The two flowers gils, Josephine Gunter, cousin of the bride, and Chai mine des Jardine, were prettily attired in period* frocks of coral pink uncrushable celanese and tiny jackets of coinspotted lame with front lacing and puff sleeves. Their Victorian hats, also shoes, were of gold and they carried baskets of salmon pink polyanthus roses, carnations and maidenhair fern with matching ribbons. M. H. G. S'iddells was best man and Mr. L. J. Minnes was groomsman. The ushers were Messrs. G. Fear and Alex Bogle. As the bride and bridegroom were leaving the church, the bride was presented with a white satin horseshoe. At the reception following, which was held at the Rendezvous, Mrs. Redit received the guests wearing an ensemble of navy blue faille and lace over pink, a navy hat with touches of pink. Navy shoes and gloves completed a smart ensemble. Her bouquet was of pink roses, carnations and begonias. Mrs Steel, the bridegroom’s mother, was attractively attired in a frock of satsuma red velvet cut on classical lines and with a high neckline a smart hat of velvet and gold accessories. She held a lovely posy of satsuma red charm dahlias, gold roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs. W. Chainey, sister of the bridegroom, was smartly gowned in carbel green ring velvet with the neckline in the new square effect. A velvet halo hat to match and shoes to tone were worn and a gold shoulder spray adorned her frock. There were 130 guests at the reception. The three-tiered wedding cake was a gift from the bride’s two brothers. Later, when the happy couple left on a tour of the North Island, the bride wore a smart ensemble of brown silk moire with bodice of beige and brown lace appliqued in brown. Eer shoes, hat and gloves were in heigj. She wore a musquash fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom.
