■WEEKLY SUMMARY The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation {Society of New Zealand Limited in their weekly review of the stock markets state that a very steady volume of business has been maintained during the week for the time of the year. The great pasture growth, everywhere is still exercising the minds of the grazers and. the values of all classes of store stock have been maintained at the levels ruling in our last rew reports, no easing being shown whatever. Despite the set-back experienced in Dairy produce values, although the cheese market looks very much mc-re optimistic at the moment tiian butler the demand for top ’quality dairy heiferu still remains especially keen with quotations becoming more limited every day. Every indication of a shortage of supplies of top heifers for our own local markets at a later date, seems assured. The wool values continue to be very firm, the recent southern tales proving the best of the Dominion series io date, and a hardening, rather than an easing tendency, in these values is indicated. Fat Stock. All classes of rat stock remain firm in values on those ruling in our last report. Salcß of fat wethers include a line of 200 at 26s 6d; with fat ewes including 150 at 16s 9d; 250 at 17s and 200 at 16s 9d, with sales of fat lambs at 21s to 235. All these prices being for butchers’ requirements. The values for fat cattle remain firm on thoee ruling on our last report. Salo of fat P.A. and Hereford heifers from. £7 to £7 15s with fat P.A. and Hereford cows from £6 10s to £7 ss. Store Cattle. Quite keen enquiries exist for most classes of store cattle the diiiicuity being to obtain quotations. Breeding ewes are ctill keenly sought after including a line of 320 o-year ewes R.W.S.D. 235; 260 4-year ewes 26s 6d; 200 6-year ewes at 20s; 200 2-tootn ewes at 22s 6d. Both ewe and wether lambs are still keenly sought after, sales including 520 good wether lambs at 17is and 150 good ewe lambs at 23s 6d. Store cattle still remain in keen demand, here again the difficulty being to obtain quotations of same. Sales during the week include 41 f.w.d. P.A. heifers at £5 15s and 70 weaner P.A. calves at £3 12s 6d. The dairy heifer market still remains exceptionally firm for the time of the year with keen enquiries still existing. Sales during the week include truck lots of extra choice 2 and 3-year heifers from £7 to £7 10s together with a line of 60 good 3-year heifers for immediate delivery, £5 15s, and truck lots of medium 2 and 3-year heifers from £6 to £6 10s. Most interest has been shewn in good Jersey weaner heifers numerous sales being effected during the week including, 20 good calves at £3 10s; 30 at £3 15s; 20 at £3 10s; 60 at £3 2s Gd, and odd lots from £3 5s to £4; with sales of 18 mc-nths. heifers including a line of 35 at £3 8s 6d together with 20 at £1 and odd sales from £3 10s to £4 Yard Sales. Yard Sales at all centres have been well supported, large yardings of store cattle now finding their way into the works with keen salei> resulting and unusual for this time of the year, as shown at Inglewood the other Gay, were some 350 head dairy Cattle submitted for auction with an especially satisfactory sale resulting in practically a total clearance under the hammer being effected. Our Hawera pedigree pig fair held on Wednesday drew a large attendance of the public. Some 120 Berkshire and Tamworth and Large black boars and tows were offered —a very satisfactory sale resulting. A noticeable feature of the sale was the excellent demand for both Berkshire boars and sows. This breed easily topping the sale. Tamwc-rths were not so keenly sought after as in other years the entries in this section being difficult enough to dispose of. The prices in th« Berkshire section ranging from 7gns. to for sows and from sAgns. to 9gn.s. for boars. In the Tamworth section prices ranged from 4gns. to 7gns. for sows and from 4gns. to Signs, for boars. In the large black section prices ranged from 3Agns. to 6igns. for sews and from 2gns. to 4gn«. lor boars. Wavcrley Safe, Friday March 6. — Good yarding of sheep and station cattle "almost total clearance effected. Ewe lambs 225, 22s lOd, 23s 4d, 245. Wether lambs 14s 6d, 15s 7d, 16s 10d, 18s 4d, 19s 6d; 5-year ewes 20s 7d, 20s Bd, 216. Auroa Sale, Monday March 9. —A medium yarding camo forward to this fixture which resulted in a total clearance under the hamnrer; prices ruling being on a par with late rates realising:—Works cows from £2 ss, £2 15s to £3 16s. Eat cows £4 ss, £4 10s to £5 Is. Bulls heavy to £5 17s, others to £4 15s. Manaia Sale, Tuesday March 10— A fair yarding was in evidence at this weekly fixture realisations being on a par with late rates. Works cows £2 5s to £3. Paddock cows to £3 10s. Fat cows £4, £4 10s to £5 18s. Bulls to £4 6s. Pigs, weaners to 10s. Stores to 15s. Heavier pigs to 22s 6d. A line of 22 shorn B.F. lambs realised 16s.
