SMALL BOY KILLED SWEPT INTO RIVER [ Per Pr» b Aisociatio®. ] NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. I*. When two extensive slips fell to-da? on the Mataro Road, which runs parallel to the Gnaero River, an eignt-ycar-oid «c.hild, Terence Hall, son of Mr C. T. Hall, Urenui, storekeeper, was swc]>t. to his death in the flooded waters of the river. A previous slip had necessitated the transfer of cream cans from one lorry to another to reach the main road and the child was standing on or n°ar the empty lorry after the transfer had been effected when 7000 or 8000 cubic yard* fell. The body so far has not been iecovered and no sign has been seen of the lorry, despite a daylong acai ch made by residents in boats.
