WIDESPREAD DAMAGE DONE CROPS SUFFER EXTENSIVELY [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright] SYDNEY, Jan. 13. A cloudburst over Newbridge and Trunkey districts, near Bathurst, caused widespread damage to farms, roads, bridges, and homes. The streets of Trunkey were covered to a depth of several feet, and the flood waters entered many houses. Two bridges were washed away and the town was practically isolated. The damage to creps was very heavy. DAMAGE AT CANBERRA 10 INCHES OF RAIN IN lj HOURS CANBERRA. Jan. 13. Damage estimated at £15,000 was caused in the northern suburbs of Canberra by a cloudburst. Roads and culverts were washed away and houses extensively damaged. All street traffiv was held up. Many motorists had narrow escapes. The damage w r as confined to the residential areas. It is estimated that neatly ten inches of rain fell in 1| Lours. FLOOD SIX MILES WIDE HAVOC IN VICTORIA Received Jan. 13, 5.40 p.m. MELBOURNE, Jan. 13. Rising overnight after six inches of rain a flood along ths Snowy River, up to three miles wide, has again brought losses to Orbost farmers. The damage in these and the Christmas floods is estimated at £50,000. Where the Brodribb River runs into the Snowy River near [Mario the flood is six miles wide. RAINS BENEFIT QUEENSLAND RELIEF FROM DROUGHT. Received Jan. 13, 9.30 p.m. BRISBANE, Jan. 13. It is estimated that Western Queensland has lost eight million sheep during the recent drought, and whole herds of cattle have also been wiped out. Heavy rain is now falling and the whole of Queensland is receiving the most thorough soaking for many years, making quick recovery of grasslands certain.
