After a long silence Protestant pastors and Catholic priesta vigorously denounce the Nazi persecution. They are issuing a manifesto- from hundreds of pulpits defying the efforts to turn the Evangelical Church into a branch of the Nazi Party. The CathG-lic Bishop of Berlin requires liirs. flock to repudiate the Nazi theory of blood and iron. DESTROYING BOLSHEVISM FRAISE FOR GERMAN NATION BERLIN, Jan. 12. Lord Mount Temple, speaking at the banquet of the German English Society, referred to “the admiration felt by English people for the success of the German nation in smashing Bolshevism.” He said that the danger seemed to be suppressed, but it might break out again. English public opinion was convinced that a clear and final AngloGerman understanding must be reached as the basis for stability. The Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, president of the society, said: ‘‘English visitors are proud to be subjects of the King. We are proud to be followers c-f our Euhrer and Chancellor.’’ Lord Mount Temple has travelled extensively in Africa and America. He was M.P. for the Blackpool Division for 12 years and later for the Fylde Division of Lancashire (1918-22) and the New Forest Division of Hampshire (1922-32). He was Conservative Whip (1911-13). During the early part cf the war he commanded the 20th Battalion of the King's Liverpool Regiment. He is chairman of the antiSocialist Union.
