HIS FORTY-THIRD BIRTHDAY I “GREATEST PARTY OF HIS LIFE” [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrighrj Received Jan. 13, 7.20 p.m. BERLIN, Jan. 13. General Goering, Minister for Air, celebrated his forty-third birthday with the greatest party of his life. A ball was held at the State Opera House lasting until 4 a.m., its splendour recalling Imperial Germany. There were 2100 guests, the majority paying 50 marks apiece admission for tickets, which nobody unknown to General Goering was allowed to buy. Herr Hitler and Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, were not present. The decorations cost thousands of pounds. There were bowers of spring flowers, and fountains played, while miles of satin and silver garlanded the rcof. Thousands of bottles of champagne were sold at a pound apiece. The Crown Prince, in the uniform of the Death’s Head Hussars, ex-King Ferdinand of Bulgaria. Prince August Wilhelm, in the uniform of a Storm Trooper, and most of the Diplomatic Corps, including Sir Erie Phipps, were present. Proceeds are to be given to charity.
