NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 31, Taranaki now has a permanently biStioned traffic “cop” who from hia headquarters at, Stratford will ceaselessly patrol the roads ot lire provjme searching for offenders against the motor vehicles regulations. Already dozens of motorists have been and several are lo appear in Court. The newcomer is Mr. A. <’. Ai>elL. Christchurch, who is attached to the main highways office of th** Public Works Department at Stratford. Equipped with a powerful new car, he has as his duty the patrolling of all roads within the No. 7 highways dis trict, which covers the major part of Taranaki. He is net a “cop” in the accepted American use "f the word, but a traffic inspector with special powers to apprehend and prosecute speedsters, one-light, drixrrs, reckless motorists and other people who sometimes make the roads a menace to users.
