MAJESTIC THEATRE. Music lovers have an outstanding treat in store for them with the showing to-night and to-morrow of the Majestic of the new, lilting Viennese romance, ‘The Night is Young,” costarryug Ramon Novarro and Evelyn Laye. The charming songs sung by | the stars in this production were written by Oscar Hammerstein 11. and Sigmund Romberg, who created such outstanding musical hits as “New Moon” and “Desert Song.'-’ Among the song hits in “The Night is Young” are When I Grow Too Old to Dream,” ‘Though I am a Noble Duchess,” ‘There’s a Riot in Havana,” ‘Lena, 1 Love You,” “My Jld Mare,” “Vienna Will Sing,” ‘Wiener Schnitzel,” and the title song, The Night is Young.” Novarro’s singing voice was last heard in “The I Cat and the Fiddle,” while Miss Laye, the b.’onde star from London, is famed for •*One Heavenly Night” and “Madam Pompadour.” The supporting items include “Stratos Fear” cartoon, comedy, and a Fitzpatrick traveltalk, ‘Glimpses of Erin.” TENNIS NOTES Playing in the Rotorua tennis tournament held recently, J. P. Glennie, of Taihape, reached the final of the men’s doubles and also won several matches in the men’s singles. Tennis enthusiasts in Taihape were pleased to hear of Mrs D. Evans ’ (nee Miss Betty Cleaver) success at the North Island championship meeting at Wanganui. Mrs Evans won the women's handicap singles and also survive*! the first round of the women’s championship singles.
