PRINCESS VICTORIA KING’S SISTER DEAD [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright] Received Dec. 3, 7.17 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 3. A bulletin announces that Princess Victoria died peacefully at 3.35 a.m. A bulletin issued last night stated: “Princess Victoria had an acute and severe haemorrhage from the stomach yesterday evening. A transfusion of blood, was performed, but it has only been of temporary benefit. The condition of her Royal Highness is critical.” Princess Victoria, who was sixtyseven years old, was the King’s sister. MB ADRIAN STOKES, R.A. Received Dec. 3. 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 2. The death has occurred of Mr Adrian Stokes, R.A., Mr Adrian Stokes, who has been an R.A. since 1919 and was an Associate of the Royal Academy for nine years before that, was a vice-president of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours. He was born in Southport in 1854 and educated at the Liverpool Institute and at Royal Academy Schools. He has exhibited works at the Royal Academy since 1876 and also at other principal London and provincial galleries. In 1889 he won a medal at the Paris Exhibition, and at the Chicago World’s Fair he gained another. His pictures have twice been bought by the trustees of the Chantrey Bequest. He married Marianne Prcindlsberger, A.R.W.S., who died eight years ago. MR THOMAS MULVEY, K.C. Received Dec. 3, 5.5 p.m. OTTAWA, Dec. 1. The death has occurred, at the age of 72 years, of Mr Thomas Mulvey, for many years Under-Secretary of State. Mr Thomas Mulvey was born- at Toronto in 1863 and educated at St. Michael’s College and at the University of Toronto, being a Scholar of the University. In 1889 he became a bar-rister-at-law of Osgoode Hall in the same city, and in 1903 became Assist-ant-Provincial Secretary of Ontario. In 1909 he was appointed Under-Secret ary of State for Canada, and in 1918 was chairman of the Enemy Departments and Reparation Committee and later i Deputy Custodian of Enemy Property. In 1920 he became King’s Printer. Tn 1933 he retired and re-entered law practice as a general counsel. He was twice married and has published a book on Canadian company law.
