BUSY BEES

GARDEN PARTY AND SALE Ou Saturday a well-attended garden party under the auspices of the Busy Bees, a juvenile branch of St. Paul’s Church, was held at the Presbyterian Church Hall, Toro Street. The Busy Bees, under the leadership of Mrs, Guy Edwards, had arranged the sale of work and with children of the primary school assisted the leaders in managing the stalls and competitions. The hall and various stalls were attractively decorated and the small helpers wore little gold silk aprons bound wita purple aud embroidered with monograms in the Busy Bees’ colours. Mr. Ormond Wilson, the new member lor Kangitikei, who was introduced by the liev. John Paterson, declared the sale of work open. Sponge cake competitions were held for the’ children, and were judged by Mesdames E. Eowntree and J. Kingston, and the buttonhole and posy competitions were judged by Mrs. G. Fear. Afternoon tea was served in the hall. The garden party and sale of work was most successful, the sum of £l2 18s 7d being raised.
