BAND OF HOPE

The Wanganui East Band of Hope, under the auspices of the W.C.T.U., held the last meeting of the year in the St. Alban's Hall on Tuesday night, when there were 70 children and between 30 and 40 of their parents present. The meeting opened with a hymn, and prayer led by Mrs Duxfield, who also expended a hearty welcome to all. After thg children had repeated the “Company Rule” and had given the “Salute” the following programme was rendered: Pianoforte solo, Joan Edwards; daisy song (in fancy dress), Miss Shute’s class; recitations, Alan Scotty Florence Fleming and Bonnie Whiteside; accordeon solo. Halsey Dornbuseh; chorus, St. Janies’ juvenile choir; “Three Little Mothers.” Miss Shute's class; solo, Bobby Thomson; trio, Janet and Marv Smith and Tvy Whiteside; duet, Nancy and Alan Scott; chorus, St. James’ Juvenile Choir. An address by Pastor Fretwell was listened to attentively and was much appreciated. Mrs Duxfield extended Christmas greetings to all, and these were reciprocated. The children and friends were then supplied with 'supper and a happy meeting was brought to a close.
