PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Bandon sub branch of the Blanket Sc-ciety was held last week, when Mrs. J. T. Berrett presided over a good attendance. It was decided to assist the baby photograph competition being 'held in Feilding- . The following report was received from tne visiting nurse: New coses 3, visits to homes 20, visits to rooms, adults 13, babies 8, other children 6. Luring the winter months several babies had colds, while mothers and childien suffered with influenza, but generally good progress had been made. Although the numbers were still small, those attending were very keen and grateful for help given. Nurse Gome was relieving nurse while Nurse Armstrong was on annual leave. BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY. Recently a garden party was held at the i-esidence of Mrs. A. K. Drew, • ‘Brooklyne,” in aid of the British and Foreign Bible Society and the Sandou Women’s Institute Christmas cheer fund. The function was well attended and. as a result a good sum of money was raised. The afternoon was spent in various wave. Competitions caused a guod deal of amusement and were responsible for a large amount of the funds raised. These were organised and consroiled by Mrs. W. E. Bearce and Mr. J W. Masters. Competitions were won by Miss Eve Gallxilly and Mrs. IV. McConachie. A produce stall under the capable hands of Mrs. T. A. Adams and Miss Gwen Adams was welt patronised and afternoon tea was served. Mesdames J. H. Bowater, F. Grace, 1. W Tostevin and Miss M. Macfarlane being in charge. Thanks are due to all those who worked so readily to make the function such a success. PERSONAL Miss Sawyer, Wanganui, is staying with Mrs. E. Dwyer, Sanson. _ The sympathy of residents is extended to Mr. W. J. Rowan, the local postmaster, in the loss of his father. Mr. McKenzie, relieving postmaster, returns to Balmerston North to-day.
