MAJESTIC THEATRE

“FARIS IN SPRING.” Mary Lilis and Tullio Carminati enact the leads of Paramount’s delightful romantic comedy with music, “Paris in Spring-,” which is now showing at the Majestic Theatre. Skilfully directed by Lewis Milstone, who has no equal for lightness of touch, “Paris in Spring” is a riotous, bubbling, effervescent film of love and its gay manifestations in the beautiful city' by the Seine. The opening scenes of the picture are shots of the Eiffel Tower never before used for this purpose in films. Here Tullio Carminati and Ida Lupino are preparing to dive from the tower because their respective sweethearts are supposed to be lax in some respect. They meet, and decide, instead of suicide, to join forces and make their sweethearts as jealous as they possibly ean. The scheme works beautifully up to a point, but the Paris police begin to pursue Carminati, who is accused of abducting Miss Lupino, and there are hilarious consequences. I ho shorter films are an entertainment in themselves. They include another of the interesting “ Broadway Highlights’’ series, a comical cartoon °in which “Pop-eye the Sailor” cuts his usual capers, and a Grantland Rice Spotlight. There is also a camera record of the final doubles match m the Davis Cup contest.
