NORTH AGAINST SOUTH MATCH FOR THE COLTS L From Our Own Correspondent. ] MARTON, Dec. 1. Beautiful weather favoured the •cricketers in Rangitikei on Saturday, and the match between North, and South Rangitikei on the Quunty grounds at Marton resulted in a good game. North won by nipe-runs. North opened with J. Marshall and W. R. Bennett, the former playing bright cricket for 65, . whilst Bennett was caught after making 17 runs. The only other batsmen to reach double figures wore P. Williams 17 and T. C. Young 10. H. Parkes and 11. Marshall were prominent at bowling, each taking three, wickets. South Rangitikei replied with 138 runs in their strike. M. Wysocki kept up his reputation as a batsman hy topping the score with 39, followed by B. Innes (20), D. A. Cameron f2'6), and S. 8. Powell (19). 'J’be match was at an interesting stage when the last three batsmen went to Ihe wickets, but they failed to make the required runs, and North won by nine runs on the first ir.nirgs. T. UNITED V. T. 0.8. Technical College Old Boys had first use of the wicket against United and scored 161 runs. Thomas and Davidson opened the innings and had scored 52 runs when the latter lost his wicket to Wood after scoring 33 runs. Connor w r ent to the crease and he and Thomas added 13 runs when Thomas was bowled by Wood with a score of 26. The next four wickets fell for 24 rims but Gilmour came to light with a handy 30, the total being 161. United did not make a promising start and lost three wickets for 26 runs. Scoring was slow and when play ceased United had 82 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Currie (18), McDougal (17), Gee (11) and Wood (10) were the only double figure scorers. , BANGIOROUA v. RANGITIKEI ; COLTS The Rangitikei Colts journeyed to Ohingaiti on Saturday and had a most enjoyable game with Rangioroua, the Colts winning by 78 runs on the first innings. The Colts, as a team, were in ' good form and played very bright cricket. B. Baskin (J 6 and J. lllston (37) «s»ened for the Colts and made free use of the bat. 1. Jolly (28) and P. Corballis (32) were both on their game, the former’s score including two > sixes and two fours, whilst Corballis notched a six and four fours.
