CRICKET AT CAPETOWN WESTERN PROVINCES MATCH FLEETWOOD-SMITH BAGS SEVEN. Received Dec. 1, 7.5 p.m. CAI’Ef’OWN, Nov. 30. From the Australian team Richardson, O ’Reilly and Chipperfield were omitted for the match with Western Provinces. Grimmett and Fleetwood-Smith extracted. the maximum assistance from the slow wicket. The crowd were greatly amused at the batsifien’s efforts to keep the ball away from the wicket. Fleetwood-Smith appeared to turn more viciously than Grimmett, sometimes pitching the ball fully two feet outside the wicKets, coming in sharply. Georgeu displayed plenty of aggressiveness and showed neat footwork, scoring all round the wicket with refreshing ease till he failed properly to get hold of a ball from Fleetwood-Smith. Cape Province’s innings lasted 194 minutes. The Australian fielding has greatly improved. Brown played a delightful knock, always accurate and aggressive, but ultimately he was enticed to hit out at a curling ball from Robertson, leaped far out and failed to connect.
