Marylebone’s strong position at the end of the first day in the match against Queensland is due less to the strength of the tourists’ attack than the of the home bats, all of whom, except Talton, Bcnsted and McCartney lacked confidence to play the bowling on its merits. Baxter, Sims and. Langridge, while not being venomous, provided variety on- the good wicket. The brightest cricket came from the Tallon-Bensted. partnership.
