GOVERNMENT DEPOSITS RISE. STERLING EXCHANGE HIGHER. The statement of assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, November 25, is as follows: —
Proportion of reserve (No. 8 less No. 6) to notes and other demand liabilities, 99.126 per cent., compared with 99.16 per cent, on November 18. Bank notes issued have decreased by £48,918, the total now being £9,123,706. Crovei/.iment deposits have advanced to £5,717,084, an increase of £237,376. Trading banks’ deposits are down by £118,540, the item now standing at £5,256,643. Other demand liabilities at £341,336 have increased by £58,455. Other liabilities total £99,404, a decrease of £1250. On the assets side gold still stands at £2,801,733. Sterling exchange totals £17,458,573, an increase of £120,387. Subsidiary coin at £210,845 shows an increase of £2221. Investments at £1,540,899 shows an increase of £2456. I Other assets total £26,124, an increase ! of £2059. The statement balances at £22,038,174, an increase of £127,122 10s Id.
