Negotiations to that end are now going on. BRITISH WOMEN’S TEAM TOUR A FINANCIAL SUCCESS It is now revealed by the Australian Ladies’ Golf Union that the recent trip of the British team of women players to Australia was a financial success. This is something on which the ladies may pride themselves, for the tour of the team of British raeninade a little earlier, cost quite a sum. Certainly the steamer fares of the members of the team were paid by the British Ladies’ Union, but all other expenses were met by Australia. In Melbourne, during the women’s championship meeting, at the Royal Melbourne Club’s links at Sandringham, when the national title was won by one of the visitors, Mrs. Walker, the takings amounted to £567, of which £390 was profit. Games in Sydney were played on two courses—those of the Royal Sydney Club, at Rose Bay, and the Australian Club, at Kensington. The profit at Royal Sydney was £136, and £lO5 at Kensington. Thus the profit arising out of the games played in Melbourne and Sydney amounted to £631. Therefore the International Fund of the Australian Ladies’ Golf Union has benefited substantially bringing closer a visit of an Australian team to Great Britain.
