AUSTRALIAN SEAMEN
UPHEAVAL THREATENED MEN WELL REFUSE AWARD SYDNEY, Nov. 26. The Sydney and Melbourne branches have decided to refuse to work under the new award which come into operation on December J, which means that the working seamen will be automatically withdrawn from the vessels as they reach their home ports after that date. Another maritime upheaval is thus threatened. The committee of management of the Sydney seamen's branch urged that no action should be taken until the result of the plebiscite concerning the acceptance of the award became known, but this proposal was rejected by a large majority.
