A DENIAL

Sir,—As persistent rumours are being circulated, purely for electioneering purposes, to the effect that someone else is responsible for my entry into the Wanganui contest, I desire to give this statement an emphatic and unqualified denial. Every election I have gone through has been won or lost off my own bat and I have never been fortunate enough to hjive a party fund behind me. Everyone has known for perhaps a couple of years or more that I would be standing for Rangitikei or Wanganui. My name was even announced in the city press when Mr. Wilson was announced for Rangitikei. Having had the honour to represent both Wanganui and Rangitikei in the House, surely the matter of choice of constituency should be left to myself. 1 he advancement of Wanganui means more to me than the advancement of Rangitikei though if returned, Rangitikei’s member, whoever he might be would have all the assistance 1 could give him.—l am, etc., JAS. T. Hogan, ofv YD y( h > :oose:,.
