JERSEY BULL SALE

OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL BULL BUYERS. A perusal of the catalogue for the bull fair to be held next Tuesday, October 1, shows that the Jersey Club and the auctioneers have done their best to give intending buyers the best deal possible. Entries have been catalogued in order of merit in the opinion of the selection committee. One now feature is that the notes as to breeding and quality of stock offered, which are written up by the classifying commit tee after inspection of the stock, and their sires and dams where available. This is a commendable guide to all buyers and enables those at a distance to buy through the auctioneers if unable to attend. Lines of blood from the well-known Holly Oak, Meadowland, Woodlands, Waipiko, Ivondale, Punganui, Finewoods, Blarichburn and Finvoy studs are amongst the offering, whilst local studs are represented by sons and grandsons of the following successful sires:—Gowanlea Oxford Hero (bred by Mr. Robb), Mania Denis (bred by Mr. Taylor), Rydal Yankee and Rydal Jester (bred by Mr. Remington), Westmere Revenue, and others. There are bulls here to suit all purposes and nurses. To go into details on the dams bred and owned locally would take up too much space, but their official records are well up to, and in many cases above tho average, and show sound breeding. A careful reading of the blending of the blood lines and butter-fat records will show that local studmasters are quite on a par with outside breeders in producing “the goods.” The selection coiftmittee will inspect all entries immediately prior to the sale on Tuesday and should any bull have so altered in condition ak to warrant his place according to order of merit being changed, his position in the order of sale will be advanced or put further down, accordingly. Final selection for places will start at 10 a.m prompt on clay of sale. From the interest already shown herd owners from all over the district are expecting to be these to see the judging put through. Dairy farmers should all note next Tuesday. A valuable morning can be spent at the sale amongst enthusiastic breeders and getting the benefit of their experience.
