LONG-DISTANCE FLYING
CAMPBELL BLACK’S PLANS TO CANADA AN'D BACK SPECIAL MOTOIIS TO BE USED [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, Aug. 29. Air. Campbell Black, who, wit-li Mr. C. W. A. Weott, won the England to Australia speed and handicap races last October, and who was forced to abandon his attempt at a iccordbreaking flight to the Cape at Cairo early this month through trouble with engine lubrication, is visiting Ireland this week to select an aerodrome from wliimh to start, a flight to Canada and back. This is one of the four long distance flights which he plans to make in the near future in his new improved Cornet monoplane “Boomerang.” Two special Gipsy VI 223 horse power motors are nbw being prepared for the Canada flighit, and the machine should have a range of nearly 3000 miles in still air on one fuel 10-ad. The return journey across the North At lantic Ocean may be accomplished in a little more than 24 hours.
