WANGANUI RUGBY

KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION TWO BIG MATCHES TO-DAY The knock-out. competition of the Metropolitian Rugby Union is to be continued to-day, when Lire finalists will appear. Pirates and Kaierau have been matched and Waverley will play Ratana. Both matches should be productive of bright football. Pirates fully extended Kaierau earlier in the season and feel confident of doing the same to-day so as to justi fy the well-established belief that the club has surmounted the lean period and is laying the foundation of a good team for next year. Waverley and Katana should provide a spectacular match, provided the natives can field the same team as that which defeated Marist last Saturday. Tommy Chase, after his tour with the native team in Australia has rejuvenated confidence in tihe Ratana team, and he played a great, game last Saturday.
