MARTON A. AND P. SHOW At a meeting of the Alarton Jockey Chib last night a deputation representing the Alarton District A. and P. Association attended with reference to holding the show on the racecourse. The terms of the club were unanimously ' agreed to by the members of the assoI eiation \s deputation, and as a result the I next show, on Thursday, Jani'ary 30, .1936, will bo held on the Marion Race I course. AiARTON BOROUGH W'JKKS COMAIITTEE ’S REPORT The Woihs Committee (Crs. A. A. Mclndo'c, .1. D. Gorric, W. B. Langston and A. Honeyman) .presented the following report to Alonduy night’s meeting of the Alarton Borough Coun Lyon Street. —We do not consider it advisable to interfere with the align ment of this street in order to get a building site on Cuba Street. Therj is still some old bricks and J'rubbery on the section recently aequiird by tin council. This should uc cleared away and the section cleaned up. Harris Street Footpath.—Theie is a footpath on tjie south side of this street. If funds are available a p-tii might be formed and metalled on the northern side from Ross Street to Mr. Abel's property. A hawthorn tree overhanging the path at Cameron> property should be cut back. Wellington Road Footpath.— The roots of perhaps half-a-dozen trees are raising the asphalt. These could be cut out and the pavement repaired. '1 he asphalt generally requires repairing, particularly south of Toia Street. As this road carries considerable motor traffic the footpath could with ndvnn tage bo continued, say, to Gray’s property. New Dray.—Wo have inspected the old dray and consider that the present dray would still give good service if fitted with new wheels and a.xle a.id one, new shaft. Drains. —A drain crosses High Street and passes under the library ami dischanges into an open cut in the Police Station property. Ross Street.—We received a complaint re blackberry on a Harris Street pioperty spreading to neighbouring sections, ho think the owner shoulu be notified tu have the blackberry cleared. Street Lights.—We consider the lighting of Follett Street and Giay Street would be considerably improved if the present bracket lamp at the intersection was suspended over the street. Air. 11. Baxter asked the committee for a load of metal at the entrance tc his property. ANNUAL BULB SHOW St. Steph-en's Bulb Show is to be held this year on Thursday mid Friday, September .19 and 20. The schedules have been printed, and are now being distributed. Anyone desiring copies can obtain them from Messrs.
