WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, August 27, 4 p.m. General Situation.—A depression has been crossing the South Island, I while an anti-cyclone has continued to extend across the Tasman Sea lon to the North Island. Forecast.—Winds: Fresh south-westerly north of Kawhia and East Cape, elsewhere moderate to strong westerly reaching gale force at places, backing to south-westerly and then decreasing. Seas (Nctv Zealand waters): High in Foveaux Strait and rather rough to rough on the west coast and off shore south of Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh winds between south-west and west prevailing, with moderate seas. Weather: Mainly fair in eastern areas, changeable with scattered showers in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south. A few isolated showers also likely to-night on the east coast of the South Island. Cool temperatures. Time of sunet (Wanganui) to-day, 5.23 p.m. Time of sunrise tomorrow, 6.21 a.in. Phases of the moon for August: —First quarter. August 8; full moon, August 15; last quarter, August 21; new moon, August 29.
