WINDING UP YEAR'S EFFORT. GALA PROGRAMME ARRANGED. The committee of the Wanganui I'olice and Press Committee is arranging a gala programme in the Regent Theatre next Tuesday night, to mark tne drawing of the 1935 alluvial gold art union, permission having been obtained from the Minister of Internal Affairs (Sir Alexander Young) to postpone the drawing to fit in with arrangements of two Wellington artists, Mrs. Wilfred Andrews (mezzo-soprano) and Mr. Will Bishop (entertainer), who are to head the programme. Owing to the inclement weather the attendance at this year’s football match was not as large as was expected, and it is hoped that the fund will be reasonably swelled by the gala I programme next Tuesday night. Mrs. Andrews is one of the best singers in the Dominion to-day and. will be looked forward to by a Wanganui audience. Mr. Will Bishop is outstanding as an entertainer. His ability as a pionist is widely known and his droll humour exception al.
