Y.M.C.A. VISITORS

HUTT VALLEY PARTY. ENTERTAINED AT WANGANUI. A party of sixteen members of the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A. arrived in Wanganui yesterday on a visit which will extend to Friday, the visitors being billeted by members and supporters of the Wanganui Y.M.C.A. During their stay here the Hutt Valley boys will engage in various games with the Wanganui representatives, and a varied programme of entertainment has been arranged for their spare hours* On arrival by the Wellington-New Plymouth express yesterday afternoon the visitors were met by the Y.M.C.A. committee and allotted to their respective billets after gathering at the Y.M.C.A. Last evening the visitors played table tennis and billiards after being officially welcomed by Mr. L. Cross, secretary of the Wanganui Y.M.C.A. Air. Cross expressed himself as delighted to be able to welcome to Wanganui a party bent on such a mission of goodwill and good-fellowship and trusted that all would enjoy their stay. He assured the visitors that complete arrangements had been made for their entertainment, and hoped that in the near future a party of Wanganui boys would be able to renew the, friendships which, he trusted, would be formed during their visit to Wanganui. Mr. A. Edwards, manager of the Hutt team, made suitable acknowledgment. An exchange of cheers concluded a happy little functions at which the captains of the teams also spoke. In the table tennis matches Wanganui won by six games to two. The results are as follow, the Wanganui players being mentioned first in each instance:—o. Welsh beat B. Roberts, 2 —o; H. Webster lost to E. Campbell, o—2; E. Casbolt bent B. Dal linger, 2—o; B. Williams beat D. Wilson, 2—o. - In the billiards matches Wanganui won two matches to Hutt Valley’s one, the scores being as follow: —H. Hart beat C. Hulme, 30—20; J. Tutty beat T. Garner, 30—11; E. Jones lost to H. ( Hedge, 23—30. The programme arranged for the Hutt Valley visitors is as follows: To-day.—lo a.m., indoor athletics; 2.30 p.m., soccer at Victoria Park; 7 p.m., visit to Regent Theatre. To-morrow.—2.3o p.m., Victoria Park, 1 outdoor athletics; 7.15 p.m., at Y.M.C.A., dodge ball, basketball and pre- , pared speeches, Thursday.—lo.3o a.m., at racecourse, Rugby match; 2.15 p.m., from Y.M.C.A., motor-car trip for members of teams; 7.15, at Y.M.C.A., farewell social for team members. Friday.—lo.3o a.m., visit to “Chronicle”; 11.45 a.m., assemble at railway station for departure.
