Meteorological Ollice, Wellington, Friday, August 2-1, I p.m. General Situation.—Au extensive anti-cyclone is advancing on io the Dominion from the Tasman Sea, but a slight low pressure wave is passing to the south. Forecast.—Winds: south-westerly to westerly, strong in a feuexposed positions, especially about and south of Cook Strait, but decreasing and otherwise light to moderate; later, wind directions becoming more variable. »Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough on the west coast of the North Island and in Foveaux Strait, but decreasing. A considerable southerly swell south of East Cape, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southerly winds in the northern portion and westerlies in the southern portion; seas moderate. Weather: a contini* ance of fine weather may be expected in most parts for several days, hut some scattered showers are likely on the west coast and also in the far south.
