LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

WANGANUI BRANCH TO BE FORMED. An inaugural meeting of the League of Mothers will he held in the Victoria Hall on Wednesday next. August 2S, at 2.30 p.m., when Mrs. W. .1. Rogers will preside. For some limo past the wish has been expressed that, a branch of the League of Mothers be established in Wanganui. In response Io this general feeling the organising committee of the Wellington provincial executive has made arrangements to extend the work to this district. The aims and objects of the league will be. fully explained by Mrs. (’. White, Wellington provincial secretary. The. work of the league is known favourably throughout the Dominion as it has a special appeal to all home mak ers. The movement was begun by the Lady Alice Ferguson, whilst, resilient in Now Zealand, and it has steadily grown in numbers and inlliienee ever since. The meetings are ’instructive, bright, and a source of inspiration, whore mothers can meet on a common footing to discuss matters that affect the hon e. Meetings are hold monthly. The three central objects of the ‘ ‘ League of Mol hers ‘ ’ are: (li To help parents Io realise the greatness of I heir responsibility and I hi' power of their influence in forming the character of the child. To establish, wherever not. already existing, a. Fellowship of Mothers who will strive for high ideals in the home and seek to lead their families in purity of life and steadfast uess of character. The aim of the league, therefore., will be to gather as members any mothers, church going or otherwise, who

are desirous of helping their children to grow in strength and wisdom and beauty of character. There is no doub*; that tho presen'c time of unrest and turmoil of mind calls for united effort, that a way of life may be found leading to peace and goodwill; and here is a work in which women may take a lead.
