THE SKI YEAR BOOK

A SPLENDID PUBLICATION APPEALING ILLUSTRATIONS The Australian and New Zealand Ski Year Book, 1935, which is just to hand, is a handsome and interesting publication. It has a direct Wanganui interest in that the New Zealand section ha s afforded liberal space to the ski championships promoted on Mt. Ruapehu last year, and were well attended by members of the Ruapehu Club. The Taranaki ski championships of 1934 have been covered and there is a most interesting report from the Ruapehu Club in the club reports section.

“The Story of Two Flag-keepers,” which has been translated from the French by Aliss Rita Bassett, of Wanganui, has been included in the New Zealand section. This delightful sketch first appeared in La Revue du Ski and subsequently in the British Ski Year Book, 1934. Air. Arnold Lunn obtained permission of the author to reproduce it in the Australian and New Zealand Ski Year Book and the translation was done for that purpose by Aliss Bassett.

The yoar book is printed on art paper and is handsomely illustrated. One of the outstanding prints is of a fine summer photograph of Alt. Cook, and another depicts the Chateau Tongariro with the snowy grandeur of Ruapehu in rear.
