SERVICE TO EMPIRE. LOBL> GALWAY’S APPRECIATION. [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Aug. 21. Appreciation of the part New Zealand soldiers had played in the South African War and Great War was expressed by the Governor-General when formally opening the annual conference of the South African War Veterans’ Association to-day. His Excellency was warmly received by the veterans, who represented all parts of the Dominion, and the announcement that he would become patron of the association wag received with applause and cheers. Replying to the welcome. Lord Galway said that people at Home had not forgotten that New Zealand took a prominent part in the South African and Great War to help the Crown. The support of the (Dominions was a priceless asset to the Empire.
