FOOTBALLERS’ BALL A NOTH Ell 8U O ' ESS FULFUX CT IO X This dancing season, Uhingaiti has proved once again that it can stage functions which attract a large influx of visitors, and Tuesday nignt's bull was not the least successful of the series of splendid entertainments held in Ohingaiti this year. The inclement weather did not deter visitors from as far afield as Taihape and Palmerston No.th and as a result of the function the funds of the football club will benefit very considerably. Alu-ch favourable comment was heard regarding the music supplied bv Vin..sen’s Ambassadors’ Dance Banti from Stratford, the members of which supplied, in addition, some much appreciated comedy items. The supper, supplied and served by a large band of willing lady helpers, was all .bat patrons of the local balls have been led to expect, and the thanks uf the dab are due to the many who assisted iu this direction and with the decorations, which were a feature of the evening. During the evening a very successful competition was concluded, the winners being announced as Mr Stan Barkes 1 and Air W. J. Sheenham (Alangaweka) In the course of his remarks, when expressing the thanks of the club to patrons ami helps, Air A. Charles made reference to the departure for Grcyiown of Air R. F. Cook, who as (Abmb captain, had done good work for the team, and asked Air Cook to accept a filled envelope from his club mates. Extras for dances were played by Alesdames Dalziell and Trcvena and Alisses Al. Taylor and F. Shackleton. Alisses Charles, J. Pritchard and W. Nclmes varried out the duties of M ’s.C. and kept things moving with a swing. PERSONAL Mr JL F. Cook left for Greytown on Wednesday morning and Mr L. S. Duffy, who takes Air Cook’s place on the staff of the local Post Office has arrived from Wavcrley, Before his departure, Mr Cook was met by the staff and the postmaster, Mr A. Charles, made him a presentation on behalf of his fellow officers.
