Tunnel Collapses

MEN BURIED IN BERLIN FEVERISH RESCUE WORK [By Telegraph—Tress Association—Copyright] BERLIN, Aug. 20. A tunnel collapsed near the Brandenburg Gate, behind the Hindenburg I Palace, while being constructed for an extension of the underground railway. It is feared that twenty men are buried and that fourteen are dead. Firemen, police and Nazi squads are working feverishly through a mass of tangled girders and timber to rescue them. A skilful tram-driver prevented a [greater disaster. He saw the road cave lin immediately ahead of the tram and reversed. As the abyss widened trees and trainway standards slid into the opening, but the tram got clear in time.
