Schisms in the ranks of the Democrat Party which have been rumoured for some time, became manifest to-day, when the publicly acknowledged head of the organisation, Air. Goodfellow, severed his connection with the party. 11c will not attend the conference in Wellington. Similar action has been, taken by Mr. ■ J. Hislop, who has boon chairman of the Auckland executive since its estabhshiuent in the city. Air. Goodfellow' lias declined to make any statement for publication concerning his position.
