PROSPERITY IN RUSSIA
FOREIGN BANKERS IMPRESSED LORD PASSFIELD’S REMARKS. LONDON, Aug. 5. Bar<>n Passfield, Sidney James Webb, describing his recent visit to Russia, said that Soviet industry was shockingly inefficient, but was turning out the goods. The country was relatively prosperous. There was no unemployment, and even foreign bankers were impressed with the success of the regime because the {Soviet was paying its debts in gold. The Soviet was making all requirements, and if the Far Eastern army were cut off, it would be aide to live a year on Soviet products and be able to supply itself with munitions.
