FOUND IN STOLEN CAR ( Ter Prexs Association. ) AUCKLAND, Aug. 4. Two .3(l.’’ rifles, nearly 1000 rounds of ammunition, and a misce laneous collection of goods, believed to be the proceeds of a series of burglaries, were found by detectives in a stolen motor-car which was recovered on a lonely road at Waikowhai on Saturday. The motor-car is the property of Miss Francis Walters, of the Auckland Hospital staff. It is a small model and was stolen from the hospital last Tuesday.
The origin of the rifles and ammunition found in the motor-car. which was practically filled with assorted goods, is not yet dcaniiely known It is thought possinlc that the rifles were stolen from the rifle club armoury at the Auckland Grammar School, which has been entered.
Tn addition to the rifles and ammunition found in the car there were several rugs believed to be part of a quantity valued at £54 stolen from the Onehunga woollen mills early on the morning of July 22. The thief entered through a window. It is considered likely that the other articles found in the car have been stolen from a seaside bach.
