MUSIC TEACHERS

AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. The monthly gathering of the members of the Music Teachers’ Association was held in the Lady Jellicoe Club rooms last Alond’ay evening when an attractive programme of music was presented. The compositions of B. J. Dale were represented in the first ovement of a sonata, played by Madame Betts-Vin-cent, and “Night. Fancies,’’ played by Aliss Esme Smith. Mr. Lance Craig contributed n group of songs, “The Last Hour” (Walter Kramer), “The Lake Isles of Innesfree” (Muriel Herbert) and “Amber and Amethyst” (Adam Carse). Air. Liddle was heard in songs, “Barque at Midnight” (Lambert), “Far Across the Desert Sands” (Woodford-Finden) and “Rip Van Winkle” (Herbert Carroll). Accompaniments were played by Airs. Abernethy and Air. Craig. The president (Air. Lance Craig), spoke of the present-day supremacy of English composers and performances. Ho referred to the achievements of English artists in violin, ’cello, piano and vocal work and also spoke of the high standard of English orchestras, and the fine performances of operas conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham at Covent Garden. At the cloise, supper was served. Misses AL Blennerhassett and I. Gharniberlain acted as hostesses for the evening. Those present were: Aladame Betts-Vincent, Mesdames Ansell, Whitlock, Fennell, Miisg B. Richmond, N. Williams. N. Whitlock, N. Astbury, E. Smith, M. Blennerhassett, 1. Chamberlain. Misses Alcßeth, Craig, Naumann, and Liddle.
