WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

TURAKINA MEETING. Mrs. Wichnowsky presided over a well-attended meeting on July 18. A good deal of correspondence was read and it was decided to held a sale of goods from the Blind Institute shortly. An invitation from Fordell to an evening on August 17, was received. A parcel of clothing is to be sent to Wanganui fondistribution and a parcel of reading matter to Kanoi men’s camp. Airs. Watt gave an interesting demonstration of a knitted spiral sock. Members then joined in a short community sing. A very Hearty vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Conder, Powell and Body and all those who kindly conveyed goods to the Wanganui Federation Exhibition and thus helped the Turakina W.I. to tie for first place in the pantry display. A competition for Maderia cake was won by Mrs. Flyger 1, Mrs. Wicshnowsky 2 and Miss Groshinsky 3. Hostesses for August are Mesdames Kiernan, Knox and Aliases Knox and
